2020
This is a story where fantasy and reality are indistinct. It is about a boy who started using his elbow instead of his hands after COVID-19, who lacks conscious awareness of wearing a mask, and who plays Frisbee with his girlfriend in order to practice social distancing.
The soundtrack was mixed by stitching together the sounds from SNS notifications, video games, movie streaming services, YouTube (which I spent most of my time on during lockdown), the sound of the entrance procession of the Tokyo 1964 Summer Olympics, the sound of a xun (a Chinese musical instrument I wanted to practice during lockdown), and, finally, the sound of the balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet (1968), which is the scene that most clearly depicts social distancing in film history.
This work is kind of my personal picture and audio diary during the pandemic, which, both simultaneously, actually happened and cannot happen.
